Shirley Chau

Having been raised and now based in New York City, relationships and life are both things Shirley has learned to treasure the most. When not planning weddings, she would always challenge herself and fantasize, especially making her dreams come true ---- seeing herself willing to put that effort and stepping closer and closer to her dream each day is definitely thrilling. 

Before stepping into the wedding industry, working in the media industry prompted Shirley to touch upon different areas such as sales advertising, strategic marketing, public relations, journalism and so much more. These experiences granted her opportunities to become involved in organizing and managing all sorts of events, which put her at a great advantage of having a better understanding of the wedding planning business and to also become fully prepared with a built foundation.

Shirley has planned intimate wedding for 40 guests to more comprehensive weddings for 800 guests. She has worked at venues such as the Oheka Castle, Land’s End Caterer, Penthouse 808 rooftop, The Greenpoint Loft, Liberty House Restaurant, Chateau Briand Caterer, Westbury Manor, Jericho Terrace, Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel…and most of the Chinese banquets. Genesis Wedding’s work has been featured in WeddingWire, The Knot, Once Wed, and Bridaltweet.

Shirley speaks English, Mandarin and Cantonese fluently. She holds a B.A. major of Media Studies from Queens College, City University of New York, and accomplished her wedding and event planning certificate in Lovegevity’s Wedding Planning Institute.
